It’s finally here! Grand Theft Auto Online is set to launch by around 12pm today! We’ve had a whole week of terrorising Los Santos with Trevor, Michael, and Franklin, and now it’s time to show Los Santos who we really are!
Rockstar expect there to be hiccups along the way and with how well GTA V sold, there’s probably a few billion people waiting to get GTA Online when it becomes available. That being said we can probably expect some server crashes and other problems to plague the online game so be prepared.
GTA Online will be available today from 12pm UK time, Rockstar has said. It’ll require a “small downloadable Title Update” and access to GTA Online can be done by navigating to the 4th (bottom) slot in your GTAV character wheel. This is where you’ll begin your journey in Los Santos which takes place a few months before the story arch in the single player campaign.
Rockstar also outlined a few of the features in GTA Online such as how “griefing” has been tackled. Players will be able to purchase property just like in the single player game. Players can then invite people into their property in what Rockstar are calling “house party invitations” this prevents the other characters shooting up the place and stealing your cars.
If you and another character own the same property you’ll always be able to access your instance of the property unless you’re invited to a house party by the person who also owns that property “You will also be able to enter each other’s instance of that property if you exchange and accept an invite. This way, multiple instances of ownership of the same property within a lobby can co-exist.”
Rockstar also touched upon the microtransactions which were revealed last week. With the purchasable GTA$, players won’t be able to just buy their way to the top. Higher value items will require a character to have a certain amount of Reputation Points (RP) before they can purchase said item. This essentially prevents the “buy to win” concern some people had with the game.
Along with over 500 missions for you to play Rockstar plan to keep adding more and more into the mix to keep the game alive, what’s more is that soon we’ll be able to help create more missions with the content creation tool that they’re set to launch in the fall so keep a look out for that!
Finally the character customisation features allow you to choose your character’s sex, who their parents are, and whether your characters parents have specific characteristics like dominance. The character creation itself is really in-depth and your choices change the way your character behaves and how he or she levels up.
In GTA Online “you adjust a set of lifestyle variables which help determine your character’s appearance and starting stats. Decide how much sleep he/she gets, how much partying they indulge in, how much honest work versus illegal activity, and more”
Grand Theft Auto Online is launching at around 12pm today for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
