Square Enix today announced at D23 Expo Japan that it has officially begun development for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX which is coming exclusively to PlayStation 3 in 2014 in the US.

To follow up the release of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX Square Enix are pleased to announce that Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX will be coming to the PlayStation 3 next year for the US, no plans for an European release have been announced – yet. The game is a fully remastered HD compilation of the PlayStation 2 title Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix and the PSP title Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix. Both, previously exclusive to the Japanese market.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX is also set to contain theatrical cut-scenes from the Nintendo DS title Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded.

In Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX players will be able to continue on their adventures with Sora, Donald Duck and Goofy, and also explore the origins of the Kingdom Harts series with characters Terra, Aqua and Ventus. The game will also provide fans with the chance to replay the games of the celebrated franchise, and also lead into the highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts III, which is set to be released on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX is set to launch exclusively for the PlayStation 3 in 2014 in the United States, no European release window has been announced.
