This week PlayStation 3 users will get the chance to take part in the Dark Souls II network test which according to the games website is a “large-scale network stress test in order to perform a variety of technical tests on the online system.”. The invites will be going out to select North and South American players as soon as today (11:00 a.m. PDT), with the network test beginning October 12.
Right now there’s no registration process and players will be randomly selected and will receive a message from Sony Computer Entertainment America through the PlayStation 3 XMB with a download code prior to the Network Test with the Closed Beta Test download available on a first-come, first-served basis with a 5,000 user limit with a larger participant pool opening for a later testing round on October 26.
Those successful will be required to have approximately 3,7GB of free space, so prepare to make some space!
For the October 26 test invites will be sent on October 22 at 11:00 a.m. PDT and will contain the exact same code. This code will also be posted on the official Dark Souls 2 Facebook page, the test is also a larger test than the one on the 12th, but will still be limited so keep your eyes peeled.
Dark Souls 2 is set to launch on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC on March 11 2014.
