In a move that will appeal to fans of crowdfunding, Square Enix has revealed it’s plans for ‘Collective’. Partnering up with Indiegogo, the Final Fantasy producer has described Collective as “a curated platform that enables creators to post ideas, and gamers to judge whether those ideas should become reality or not.”
The initiative allows developers to pitch ideas to fans, who will have the power to choose which projects to back. If enough people respond positively to a pitch, Square Enix will work with the developer on an Indiegogo campaign.
Square Enix intend to assure quality by making sure developers have the necessary skills and tools to deliver on their promises. They will also assist creators in budgeting their projects.
Developers need to agree to certain terms and conditions before pitching on Collective, but developers that use the service will have access to some inactive Eidos properties.
Fans have already shown excitement at the possibility of new ‘Gex’ and ‘Pandemonium’ games.
