Late last night Google uploaded the official Factory Images and Binaries for Android 4.4 KitKat for the Nexus 4, Nexus 7 (WiFi and Cellular), and Nexus 10 allowing those of us who are too impatient for the OTA update to update right now. What this also means is that the OTA update should be coming pretty soon.
For those who want to get hands on with Android KitKat before the OTA rolls out on the Nexus 4/Cellular Nexus 7 now you can, but remember flashing the factory image will remove all of your data so be sure to back-up first. You can head to the download page here to download the Factory Image, it’s also a good idea to keep these handy if you’re partial to flashing custom ROM’s as you’ll need this to return back to stock.
Android Police has a fantastic guide on how to flash the Factory Image but it’s not for the feint hearted and required a bit of fiddling in Command Prompt.
I’m waiting for the OTA as I want to keep the way my phone is set up so for the next few days I’ll be constantly checking for updates.. Yay.
