It looks like Activsion’s Call of Duty: Ghosts is still holding tightly onto the top spot this week according to the UK video game charts with LEGO Marvel Super Heroes debuting at number two, kicking FIFA 14, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and Battlefield 4 down to third, fourth, and fifth place respectively.
It looks as if Call of Duty: Ghosts is still haunting the top spot thanks to strong sales of the Xbox One version which has just been added to it’s available platforms; this also takes into account previously announced PlayStation 4 sales which are still growing. It comes as no surprise that despite the Xbox One not launching until the end of the week and the PlayStation 4 launch scheduled for the end of the month people want to get in immediately on the next-gen versions of the latest titles.
We also see a climb from Skylanders SWAP Force which has also benefited from a boost in sales thanks to the release of the games next-gen versions putting the game in eighth place from tenth.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes comes in at second place and is also the second biggest week one release for a LEGO title which is only beaten by LEGO Indiana Jones: Original Adventures which was released in 2008.
Other new additions to the charts are Ratchet & Clank into the Nexus which debuts at twenty one, Xcom: Enemy Within landing at twenty five.
Over the course of the month I’m expecting the charts to bounce around more than a hyper kid on a sugar high, with the launch of the Xbox One imminent and the PlayStation 4 at the end of the month, big titles such as Assassin’s Creed and Battlefield 4 are bound to be fighting for the top spot along side Ghosts, and FIFA 14 which comes bundled with the Xbox One.
