For those of you who can’t wait to get your teeth into Lords of Shadow 2 next year, Nintendo 3DS game Mirror of Fate’s HD upgrade has been released on the Playstation Store.
Taking the role of descendants of Gabriel Belmont, including Trevor and Simon (stop swinging your pants right now), you set off on a time-spanning, multi-character, vampire-whipping journey of revenge and sorrow to meet face-to-face with your family’s murderer, Dracula. Mirror of Fate HD covers three generations of Belmonts and their twisting tale of woe. Set 26 years after Lords of Shadow, MoF serves to fill in the plot before LoS2 hits the high street in February.
If you check out the trailer above, be mindful of spoilers if you want to play Castlevania: Lords of Shadow first. You may just cheat yourself out of an intricately carved story…
In the side-scrolling masterpiece, you play as four major characters in the Lords of Shadow storyline, each with thier own skills and abilities. You’ll traverse around a beautifully rendered 3D castle, shrouded in mystery and full of murderous intent. The fighting style is reminiscent of the entry chapter in the series, although battles are danced in glorious 2.5D, with combos and special attacks in a deep stategic style, using both magic and melee to dispatch the minions of the dark lord and banish the bloody great bosses you’ll encounter on your quest.
For high-score hunters, an online leaderboard has been added for the entirely new Boss Rush mode, where you beat down big baddies in as fast a time possible.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD is available now on PSN and XBL for £9.99 with a special, playable demo of Lords of Shadow 2 thrown in for good measure. It was also released last week on XBL and the original can be purchased on Nintendo 3DS.
