So your offspring/niece/strange kid from down the road have handed you a list of all the shiny new game related gifts they would like from Santa this year.  Whether you’re seeing ‘Xbox one’ at the top of the list and wishing your bank balance included a few more zeros or your mini me has already bagged a new console from Santa and now needs the accessories this Christmas gift guide is your own personal elf, here to help!

Firstly let’s go with what’ll be on top of most mini nerds lists, the Xbox One and PS4, not suitable for every budget but if Santa is feeling extra generous this year it’s definitely worth investing in this years must have consoles, they’re not just a gift for the kids! they act as an entertainment system for the entire family, everyone can use them.

Awesome family friendly titles to check out for both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are:

  • LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
  • Just Dance 2014
  • Zoo Tycoon
  • Skylanders Swap Force name a few. If the latest consoles are a little out of your price range all of the titles listed above (other than Zoo Tycoon) are also available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Disney Infinity is also one to look out for, whether you’re 2ft tall or 6ft you’re going to have a soft spot for this interactive game. Most if not all of these games are available from good retailers such as GAME and Amazon, though you may be a little hard pushed to find the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Gaming in comfort is essential and also makes you look totally awesome when your friends come around and you have a chair which sole purpose is to game in, uh-huh awesome right! Gaming chairs can differ in price from purse friendly to “I could buy a three piece suite for that!” so shop around. My top pick is this little beauty for a little under £70.

Gaming Headsets make a great gift for both parties, you get the peace and quiet while the gift recipient gets to feel like a secret agent and chat to his/her friends, it’s a win win situation, oh also the sound quality of the game is greatly enhanced. You can currently purchase headsets for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 but Xbox One and PS4 gaming headsets are coming soon.

Lastly a perfect gift for any nerd big or small is the perfect gaming TV and home cinema system. There’s nothing better than seeing the world of LEGO Marvel in full HD and hearing Bob Marley’s “Could You Be Loved” crystal clear as grandma tries to work out the dance moves in Just Dance 2014.

We hope this little gift guide helps you with that daunting Christmas shopping list, if you have any questions don’t hesitate to leave a comment below!

I can all out confirm that Zoo Tycoon is a great game to play with little ones. I’m usually awful when stuck with my nieces but last night we played Zoo Tycoon for 3 hours together and loved it!
