Call of Duty: Ghosts has been out for just over a week and it seems that we’re already hearing leaked details on what could possibly be the first DLC map pack, what’s more someone else has spotted some code which hints at DLC weaponry and attachments in the near future too. I’ve not even bought the bloody game yet!
So let’s start from the beginning. Earlier this week a title update was launched for the PC version of Call of Duty: Ghosts this title update accidentally revealed some new map names which aren’t included in the regular playlist. Players immediately spotted these weird maps within the Ghosts’ moshpit playlist but as you might expect, couldn’t actually play on those maps.
Listen under “Map Pack 1” the following maps were listed; Dome, LUA_MENU_GAZA, Red River, Boneyard, Swamp, and Rumble, this hopefully suggest that the map Dome will be making a return from Modern Warfare 3. The slip-up was corrected very swiftly and can no longer be accessed on the PC version of the game.
Next up we’ve got the latest rumour which was spotted by ‘@syncohboyy’ whilst taking a nosey at some of the code in the PC version of Call of Duty: Ghosts suggests that weaponry and upgrades might be coming to Ghosts as an added in-game-purchase similar to the Personalisation Packs in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
In the code entries such as “ch_dlcweap04 reflexpurchase” and “ch_dlcweap04 purchase” suggest that Infinity Ward may start releasing DLC weapon packs as well as standard map DLC. This would be a first for any Call of Duty game which would bring a sense of “free to play” monetisation to the franchise, except, you’ve already paid £40 for the game..
As with all rumours, leaks, and speculation take it with a pinch of salt. I’d love to know what you think though! Leave a comment below!
