In a Tumblr post by Yahoo! earlier today the company revealed that it’ll be auctioning off some of it’s more ‘premium’ yet unused domains such as ‘sandwich.com’ and ‘cracker.com’ as well as a handful of other more peculiar domains such as ‘raging.com’ and ‘finalcountdown.com’.
On their blog the company wrote:
“This year, we found a huge list of domain names that the company has owned for quite some time.
“As we discussed what to do with them, it became obvious that it was time to set them free…back into the wild of the Internet. Surely, creative people, businesses and entrepreneurs could come up with something great to do with them. They could even spark some brand new ideas or companies.”
Starting from tomorrow the company are going to auction off “well over a hundred premium domain names” and by premium they mean ‘sandwich.com’ for example. I guess if you owned a sandwhich business, this domain is one you really can’t miss out on. The same can’t really be said about ‘finalcountdown.com’ unless you’re an Europe cover band?

The question is, do you have around $1,000 to reserve such a domain name? If you’re interested in the not-quite-complete list of domains, click here. I’m sure you won’t hear the last of this auction, especially with domain names such as ‘av.com’ having a reserve minimum of $1,000,000-$1,499,999.
