On September 30 Tesco, the UK supermarket chain launched their own brand, £119 7-inch tablet and have since managed to shift 300,000 units, the company has recently announced.
Tesco launched the Hudl, a 7-inch HD screen, Rokchip 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, 16GB memory which has support for a MicroSD card upto 32GB, and only a small amount of Tesco branding making this device as close to a vanilla Android device as Google’s own Nexus tablets.
A few days after being on sale Tesco announced that they’ve shifted 35,000 units which is impressive, two months on however that number keeps growing with the company announcing that they’ve shifted 300,000 units since launch.
Upon visiting Tesco to purchase a Hudl as a Christmas gift we were sent on a wild Goose chase as almost all of our local Tesco stores had sold out of the tablet. The sales assistant told us that they’re getting stock in every day and it’s flying off the shelves. Eventually we found one, but we had to drive around 45 minutes out of our way to do so.
