From May until August, the British Library will be hosting Comics Unmasked.
The British Library website says:
“The show will explore the full potential of the medium, demystifying the process of creating comics while presenting work that is challenging to the status quo. Its materials unflinchingly examine issues around gender, violence, sexuality, drug-taking and politics.”
The event features British comic royalty, including: “Alan Moore (Watchmen, V for Vendetta), Neil Gaiman (Sandman), Mark Millar (Kick-Ass) and Grant Morrison (Batman: Arkham Asylum)”
The exhibition will draw upon the British Library’s extensive collections – dating from the 18th century to the present day. The exhibit will “explore the diversity of style, approach and format found in the medium of comics.”
School workshops will be running during the event, looking at the potential of comics as a medium.
