We all knew that Robert Carlyle would be returning to CLoS2 and the smooth tones of Patrick Stewart are also back for the action adventure sequel. Natascha McElhone reprises the role of Gabriel’s dead wife too and busty Carmilla is back with the smoky, sultry voice of Sally Knyvette…
Adding to the epic end to the story of Gabriel is the talent of some other well known actors, pointed out in a vengeance fuelled trailer and abundant with in-game action and the introduction of important cast members.
First notable character to be seen is a man who looks to be blind, clothed in a cloak and cast cleverly in the role of Victor. I say cleverly because he’s voiced by none other than Anthony Howell, who played Lord Laurent in the recent TV telling of Dracula. Okay, so he doesn’t last too long but still, nicely placed Konami.
If you were wondering who will be playing the title’s protagonist and all-round evil king of Hell, Satan, you’ll be pleased to hear that Jason Issacs, one of the best villain actors in recent years, will be donning the hairy goat legs and horns to play Gabeula’s ultimate nemesis.
If you’ve played Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate, you may be acquainted with Alucard. I won’t go into detail and spoil the story for you, but he plays a major role in both the lives of Gabriel and Dracula and his return harks the acting skills of none other than Red Wedding victim, Richard Madden. Let’s just say that Alucard’s story is just as bloody and confusing as Rob Stark’s final scenes in A Song of Ice and Fire, or Game of Thrones if you missed the books (shame on you).
There are others in the trailer too… A strange fellow, sitting inside a clown-like living mech called the Toymaker. Just watch you don’t step on his Lego. Raisa Volkova, cigarette in hand, takes a dig at smokers by sporting a voice that sounds like she’s gargled glass while drinking vinegar, because everyone knows all smokers sound like Mab from the old 1998 TV mini-series, Merlin.
The end scenes of the video contain some rumpus between Dracula and some of the bigger beasties in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, including a massive tree-beast wearing a horned skull, a fight with a huge tentacle and no dodgy anime in sight, Carmilla getting the better of Gabe and a few snippets of what lies in the heart of a Gothic, modern day London… That is other than postcode gang wars and cockney con men.
With a little over a month until release, this is some fine footage to get your teeth into (I had to…). Go have a look, now, it’s right above this writing!
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is out on the 25th (US) and 28th (EU) of February 2014 for fans of vampire whipping action on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
