Here in the UK we have a little company called GAME, in just about every city or town you can find a GAME retailer. They saw tough times in 2012, nearly going under. Things are looking up for GAME now though.
The company has released information on their sales over the month of December reporting nothing but increases in both in-store and online sales. The spike lasted for 6 weeks ending January 4th, during that time the sales in-store increased by 84% and online sales increased by a whopping 213%! Now, they’re numbers to be proud of.
Martyn Gibbs, GAME Chief Executive said on the increase “This strong overall performance for our second peak trading period was driven by our ability to capitalise on the hugely successful launches of Microsoft’s Xbox One and Sony’s PlayStation 4.”
There is no denying that the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 had a massive play in the sales figures at GAME, both had quickly sold out and then due to such high demand GAME had to re-stock to take on the must have presents of 2013. GAME have also recently stepped into the Blu Ray and DVD market as well as selling phones, tablets and other electronics. GAME have a lot of fingers in a lot of pies.
GAME’s accomplishments at the end of last year may also prove to be a financial miracle as the company may be planning an IPO, and IPO stands for Initial Public Offering. It looks as if the company will be planning a £300 Million flotation that they will be appointed to a coordinating investment company.
