Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is an exciting new game in The Lord of The Rings franchise. You take on the role of Talion a Ranger of Gondor who has ‘Wraith-like abilities’. Interesting.
The story is a bridge between The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings, Talion and his family are killed by the armies of Sauron but Talion is given a second chance. Only this time with added powers. You’ll notice in the trailer above a variety of killer moves and killer weapons to boot.
The actual story in Shadow of Mordor is seperate form The Lord of The Rings but will align, how they do that is still a mystery though. Along the journey with Talion you’ll come across a number of enemies and allies but one of the most notable characters to feature will be Gollum, someone Talion realise’s he has quite a bit in common with.
The first thing I thought when watching the trailer was that it looked like a combination of a few games. The climbing reminded me of Assassin’s Creed but with it’s own twist on it. The fighting and I think a number of people will agree is very similar to the type used in the recent Batman Arkham games with a flair of Ryse in there. That’s just my opinion anyway.
Overall the game looks great, something I’m sure many will look forward to and enjoy. Me included. It’s Ironic that I’ve recently watched the first two The Lord of The Rings films and wondered when a new game would appear. Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor doesn’t have a release date at the moment only 2014, we’re in 2014 so that’s a bonus.
