According to a leaked video and accompanying images, it looks like Google’s latest flagship handset, the Nexus 5, may be getting a splash of colour along side the usual white and black versions. Following those images the Red version of the handset has also been pictured.
The Nexus 5’s predecessor, the Nexus 4, only really came in black with Google releasing a white version later on in the handset’s life cycle in very limited numbers. The Nexus 5 on the other hand comes in both black and white as standard, but according to Phone Arena, the Nexus 5 could come in several other colour options.
Phone Arena received a video early last week which showed the Play Store listing for the Nexus 5 with six new colour options, that’s right, six. Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple are the colours available in the preview as well as the usual Black and White options. The video didn’t show much other than the image of the phone changing to match the colour selected.
Later on in the week a further leak appeared, this time of an image of the physical phone in Red and a supposed release date of late February/early March which suggests that Google could reveal something at the Mobile World Congress in late Feb. There’s also word that the new colour options will be purely cosmetic with no changes coming to the phones specifications.
Until Google make an official announcement or reveal anything, it’s best to take it with a pinch of salt. What are your thoughts? Leave a comment below.
