One of the weirdest additions – in my opinion – to the DualShock 4 controller was the PlayStation Move-esque light bar. Aside from a few not-so-practical uses such as identifying players and visually showing health, it’s nothing more than a dull glow coming from your crotch and according to SCE Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida, it’ll stay that way too.

Magical glowing crotches aside, the lightbar isn’t very useful to those playing alone on a game that doesn’t make use of the light bar and most likely drains the battery a little quicker too. So surely we can turn it off? Well, no, you can’t.

In a series of tweets from Shuhei Yoshida the DualShock 4’s light bar can’t be turned off, but that’s okay, because “the LEDs do not use much battery” and if you’re annoyed by it you’re going to have to choke it up and deal with it.
