It’s “Sherlock Holmes and the case of the Cancelled Wii U pre-orders.” as various reports suggested the Wii U version of Watch Dogs had been cancelled, but had it really?
Yesterday reports started coming in that people were receiving emails stating that their pre-orders for the Wii U version of Ubisoft’s upcoming open world title Watch Dogs had been cancelled. The first reports came from Wiitalia who found that GameStop Italy were offering refunds for the Wii U version, which suggested that Ubisoft had scrapped the title for Nintendo’s console.
Following the Italian GameStop reports, Kotaku began to hear that GameStop US were also cancelling pre-orders which further suggested that the Wii U version of Watch Dogs had in fact been scrapped.
Well, good news Wii U fans, Watch Dogs IS still coming to Nintendo’s home console, in fact, it was all just a mere computer error that caused certain pre-orders to be refunded. You can still pre-order the game for Wii U, and existing pre-orders still remain intact.
So to answer the question “Is the Wii U version of Watch Dogs cancelled?” No. No it isn’t. It seems that Wiitalia jumped to conclusions a little too quickly by suggesting that Ubisoft had “scrapped” the title for the Wii U.
