The studio behind Driver: San Francisco, Ubisoft Reflections has had about 40% of their staff help out on the development of Tom Clancy’s The Division according to Ubisoft Massive who are currently developing the game.
Ubisoft Reflections, a studio based in one of the most well know cities in the world, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, has been helping with various areas of the game. Main characters, enemies, building Manhattan (a city, a little less known than Newcastle) and lots more! The news comes really as no shock as Ubisoft has several studios, all across the globe that help create the games that we know and love. Ubisoft Reflections has also helped Ubisoft Montreal with the upcoming game Watch_Dogs, specifically with the games driving mechanics.
“There’s so much love for this game at Reflections. Our guys are absolutely crazy about it. So for some of them it’s a life achievement being able to participate in the development of the game.” Ubisoft Reflections Managing Director Pauline Jacquey has said.
I’ve been lucky enough to actually go to the Ubisoft Reflections studio, because yes if you hadn’t guessed from my subtle hints is that I am actually from Newacaslte. I know, I snuck those hints in. I’ll wait here and you can go and try to decode the hints, I’ll wait. The studio is amazing and it’s great to think that they’re helping out on these games that are going to reach audiences worldwide and people who help create them are from your hometown. Even the country you live in is cool, so just because you aren’t from Newcastle you can be proud too.
