Last year old-school rivals Nintendo and SEGA both joined hands and announced that they were having a baby.. wait, wrong story line.. They announced that SEGA were planning to bring three exclusive titles to Nintendo consoles featuring the company mascot, Sonic the Hedgehog, so I was surprised to hear the latest news that a new unannounced Sonic title could be coming to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as well as the Wii U in 2015.
At the Nuremberg toy fair which was held last week, US toymaker Jazwares had a booth showing off some of it’s licensed toys including ones for Sonic the Hedgehog as well as a sign outlining future releases both on console and TV at some point this year. Also noted on the display was the 2015 release schedule which highlighted a new Sonic game which will be coming to the Wii U, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
What surprised me is that we’re actually still waiting for another title to come out of the Nintendo/SEGA partnership. We’ve currently had Sonic: Lost World and Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games: Sochi 2014 for both the Wii U and 3DS, but a third title which was promised is yet to raise it’s blue spikey head.
Could this be another case of a once Wii U exclusive title being released on other platforms due to the recent slump in sales? We’ve only got two years to wait!
