Steam Controller Rumored to Go On Sale in October/November

Valve’s revolutionary Steam Controller is rumoured to launch and go on sale by the end of the year according to anonymous but “trusted” sources via PC Gamer. If true, this would put the Steam Controller in stores in time for the holiday season.

Valve’s Steam Controller is the first of its kind to do away with the standard thumbsticks we’ve become used to in favour of more unconventional touch pads which can be programmed to act the way the player wants it to act. The Steam controller has seen numerous redesigns since its original reveal last year thanks to feedback from the various beta participants.

According to a “trusted hardware source with knowledge of Valve’s Steam Machines project” who spoke with PC Gamer at PAX this past weekend, Valve’s Steam Controller is set to go on sale in October/November this year. The source also revealed that the Steam Controller will launch before the Steam Machine which suggests that the first handful of Steam Machines from third parties could launch late 2014 early 2015.

Of course, as always take this with a pinch of salt until Valve actually announces something, but a late 2014 would seem beneficial for the company as it’ll coincide with the holiday season.
