Respawn Entertainment Details Titanfall: Expedition DLC Map, War Games.

Not too long ago Respawn Entertainment revealed that Titanfall’s first lot of paid DLC will be coming sometime in May. Titled, Titanfall: Expedition, the DLC is expected to come with three maps; Runoff, Swamplands, and War Games. In a recent blog post from Respawn, they’ve decided to give us a closer look at the map War Games.

War Games is an odd map because even though it’s a new map, it’s going to feel quite familiar in some points. Why? Because War Games is based in a virtual world where Pilots compete in simulated environments of Angel City, Rise and Airbase Sierra. The three hard points will be based in those simulated areas whilst the buildings in between will be featureless buildings similar to that in the Training Mission rooms.

What sounds pretty cool about this particular map is that “some areas throughout the map will be “glitching out”, providing landmarks that remind you that you’re fighting in a virtual simulator.” Designer Jason McCord wrote on the Titanfall Blog. What’s more, the map has been designed as a “parkour playgroud” with various walls to run, roofs to jump from, and things to leap off of, even more impressive is that the maps coloured force fields can also be sprinted across.

Throughout the map players will notice certain aspects of the Angel City, Rise, and Airbase Sierra throughout such as the narrow hallways in Rise, and the busy building blocks from Angel City. In War Games, Respawn have taken the best parts of those three maps and seamlessly blended them into one.

For those who prefer to walk around in a huge hunk of metal, Respawn, of course, haven’t forgotten about you. They’ve also had to consider battles between Titans. In War Games, Respawn has gone with a more paintball style design when it comes to Titan vs Titan warfare; “on the outskirts of the level, paintball style fields are designed clutter-free to make enemies easy to spot and paths easy to discern. Titan spawn points push players into these areas, while also allowing flanking titans to travel through the center of the map.”
