George R.R. Martin’s Assistant Consulting on Telltale Games’ Game of Thrones.

The upcoming Game of Thrones title from Telltale games will soon be getting some big help from the creators of both the book and the TV Show as Game of Thrones producer and Sci-fy author Ty Corey Franck has been assigned the role of story consultant by the show’s creators.

Telltale Games currently have fingers in many pies recently. They’ve absolutely nailed The Walking Dead and they’ve done  a fantastic job of bringing a comic-book world to life in The Wolf Among Us, they’ve also a game in the works titled Tales from the Borderlands which is set in the Borderlands universe. Finally they’ve got their eye on Game of Thrones which is arguably one of the most popular shows on TV right now.

Details of the game are pretty thin right now and has no release date but The New York Times has reported that Ty Corey Franck, personal consultant to Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin and the TV show’s executive producer, has been taken on board as the games story consultant, or should I say, been assigned by HBO as the games story consultant.

It seems that HBO took some convincing by Telltale as to the viability of its Game of Thrones idea. This scepticism comes after HBO’s previous Game of Thrones game failed miserably, as did their attempt at a Sopranos game in 2006.

“We were struck by the sophisticated level of work and high-quality approach to storytelling in all of their games,” HBO global licensing VP Josh Goodstadt said. “We quickly recognized that this same level of quality and dedication could be a great complement to the richness of Game of Thrones.”

Game of Thrones by Telltale games is still heavily in the works with little more than an idea and a few character models taped to a wall. But be sure to stay tuned to n3rdabl3 for more Telltale/Game of Thrones news!
