DayZ Will Land on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 Once the PC Version is in the “Right State”

We’ve touched upon the subject of DayZ, the open world Zombie Survival MMO which began as a mod for ARMA II, heading to Xbox One in the future, but developer Dean “Rocket” Hall has spoken further about the game heading to new-gen consoles suggesting that the game will make it to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 once the PC version is in the “right state.”

Speaking with GameReactor, Dean “Rocket” Hall spoke about how console manufacturers are interested in having DayZ on their consoles. “I think all the console manufacturers are interested in DayZ, and rightly so because we’ve sold a fair amount of units in a short space of time and it’s a game that could potentially transfer quite well to consoles.”

“The consoles are trying to sort of break new ground with where they’re heading,” Hall continued, “because I’m sure there’s a lot of console gamers out there who they would have loved to be a part of say Minecraft when it first came out, and things like that.”

For that to happen though the PC version needs to be in a state where all of the current bugs are eliminated and all of the cheaters are removed from the servers, but that’s a fair while away considering the DayZ team revealed that the game would most likely land in Beta by the end of the year/start of next year.

“So really the bottleneck is us,” Hall admitted. “We need to get the PC build to the right state, where then it can pull across, and I think everybody recognises that there’s no sense in starting to pull something across that’s dramatically changing all the time. So really our focus is on delivering the right stuff and answering all the questions as we go through the Early Access with the PC.”

Hall is planning to leave Bohemia Interactive, the developers behind DayZ, at the end of the year, but has assured gamers that the game will still be on the right track and things with continue as smoothly once he has departed the company.

DayZ is currently a part of Steam’s Early Access program and is currently in very early Alpha. Bohemia Interactive expect to launch the game into Beta by the end of the year /  early next year.

I don’t see day z going to PS4 with H1Z1 just announced. So xbox 1 should get day z well before ps4 gets their zombie mmo.

But the PS4 is selling incredibly well, fastest selling console ever so far, s DayZ would make a lot of bucks of PS4.

They’re both selling incredibly well. Ps4 is just in more territories, that’s why it has more worldwide sales.

It wouldn’t make sense to release a third party post-apocalyptic zombie mmo (Day Z) that’s going to compete with a first party post-apocalyptic zombie Mmo (h1z1) in roughly the same time window.

I find it highly unlikely that Sony pays for day z when they are making basically the same game with some extra perks. Microsoft on the otherhand can have a zombie mmo just by paying for day z without having to spend years developing it.

I see your point, but the PS4 would still be beating the Xbox if they were released in the same amount of territories. The Xbox One doesn’t beat the PlayStation 4 in any territories. Not to mention the only countries the Xbox One isn’t selling in yet are small counties, or places were the Xbox barely sells anyways like Japan. Regardless, Sony doesn’t pay the developers to have their game released on their system. If anything the developers pay THEM for the console licences. The way it works is, developers would pay Sony a one-time license fee to release a… Read more »

Those logistics sound…sound. I guess consoles pay for console exclusivity and exclusive content.

As far as you predicting sales based on xbox one being in all the territories that the ps4 is. That’s a little silly don’t you think? Ps4 is barely ahead of xbox one in North America. After this March NPD report I wouldn’t be surprised if xbox one takes the lead.

The Xbox only does well because of the United States. It has a weak following everywhere else in the world. The fact that Microsoft can’t even beat Sony on its home front says a lot about how it’s performing abroad. Not to mention the PS4 isn’t “barely ahead” in North America. Microsoft only ever beat Sony in the United States in January, and that was because of a supply shortage. It’s adding around 8,000 units to its lead in North America every week. Microsoft screwed up this time around, and they’re paying for it. There’s no way to deny that.… Read more »

Easy spazz. We’re 4 months into an 8 year console cycle. There are far too many variables to lay out for you as to why ps4 is ahead of xbox one in North America. I know you like to assume everything stays exactly the same in every territory for every new console cycle but that’s idiocy. All anyone can do is sit and wait to see how everything shakes out. All I know is that in 2014 the ps4’s strength is indie games and slightly better graphics (for another 3 months or so) whereas the xbox one has twice as… Read more »

I never claimed this pattern would stay the same forever. I was simply laying out the facts as to what we know up to this point. But there’s no denying the fact the Xbox never has, and never will sell well abroad. That’s just something you have to accept. Furthermore, the PS4’s “strength” isn’t indies. Its strength is that it’s more power for less money. I don’t understand why people keep saying the performance gap will disappear. Actual developers (people who do this thing for a living) have already stated it’s physically impossible for the Xbox One to match the… Read more »

Microsoft is one of if not the best software companies in the world for the last 30 years. Of course they’re going to be able to improve performance of the xbox one through software updates. They released a new developer kit a month after launch which many developers said made development of 1080p games much easier. Between that and directX12 every game will be 1080p before long. Look how many system updates they’ve put out for the xbox one already and all the features they’ve added. Sony hasn’t done anything. It’s kind of pathetic those updates you get. It’s funny… Read more »

It seems like you are a big Xbox fanboy or you just really hate Sony. Swifty agreed that Microsoft could upgrade Xbox performance with software updates, the point he was making that so can Sony. The difference is Sony has better (Hard)ware and that is something that Microsoft cannot change. As for Sony adding motion controls and voice commands these are being implemented to pry the US market from Microsoft and has nothing to do with playing catch-up. In sales so far PS4 is up 2.5 Million Approx. As for Morpheus the VR headset it’s future is uncertain it really… Read more »

Then why does the PS4 have shit for games? And don’t even start with PS4 is 1080p crap. You guys can have your Knack in 1080p that is fine. And honestly, who cares who is winning? You buy the console you enjoy and call it good. At the end of the day it all comes down to having fun and enjoying yourself. You are so wrapped up with who is winning…IT DONT MATTER.

I wasn’t making a point of who’s “winning” and who’s “losing”. I was simply attempting to get rid of some of these delusions Xbox One owners have stuck in their heads.

I highly doubt that DayZ will come to Xbox one before H1Z1 comes to the Ps4 , the DayZ standalone is still in Alpha on PC and frankly you’ll be lucky if it even gets to the Beta stage by this time next year, and as dean said it won’t be released on any console until it’s fully working. Also SoE have way more resources then Bohemia, do they can develop games way faster, I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the main reasons SoE decided to make H1Z1 for Ps4 in the first place was that Sony knew after… Read more »

Are you seriously comparing dead rising to a zombie survival mmo? Have you played Dayz? Or watched any gameplay of it ?

I think they should just release DayZ when it gets in Beta but H1Z1 will most likely be out before that
