Grimm Bros have reach 500% of the total requested funding after only 30 days on Kickstarter. The development of an old school game with a difference, Dragon Fin Soup will now be better then they ever dreamed it could. 4044 people have watched the five-man company’s Kickstarter video and jumped on the opportunity to get involved in this different take on a video game.
The idea of Dragon Fin Soup has raised £119,719 allowing the small company to be able to get off to a flying start. The game is a tactical RPG that look very similar to the old style Zelda and Final Fantasy games using a top down camera. Based on our childhood fairy tales, the creators have taken an artistic licence and given the characters a new, much darker identity.
The first character that has been designed is Red Robin, based on Little Red Riding Hood. A year ago she lost her memory and became a raging alcoholic. Now she is starting to remember all of the dark past where there was blood and murders but still she doesn’t know what happened to her.
There are two modes to play, story mode and survival mode. In survival mode you start at level one and work your way through dungeons, whilst fighting challenging monsters, avoiding traps and completing mini-games which become increasingly more difficult as you go. The aim is to get as high a score as you can in only one life.
Story mode will allow you to follow the dark fairy tale that is you chosen characters life and explore the world whilst completing missions, side quests and the main storyline.
“The Kickstarter campaign for Dragon Fin Soup has been a real rollercoaster of emotions. Our initial expectations were blown away, by an awesome community of backers who allowed us to quickly reach our funding goal and then supersede it”, said Grimm Bros CEO, Ash Monif. “We are excited that our concept hit a sweet spot with so many gamers out there and we look forward to delivering our vision in 2014”.
The game is expected to be release later this year on PC, PS3, PS4 and PS Vita with many different characters to choose from, story lines to follow and free additional content to download as the game goes on.
