Well, that came as a surprise. It looks like Sony are ready to announce the release date for Driveclub literally days after they reveal that more information, including a release date, is coming soon. Okay, that sentence is pretty confusing.. For the past few months Sony and Evolution Studios have made promises but have never followed through. That’s why I’m surprised..
Driveclub, the next-generation multiplayer focused racing game/simulator from Evolution Studios is finally getting released on October 7, 2014 exclusively on the PlayStation 4. Sony announced the news earlier today via the announcement trailer above that looks absolutely stunning. I’ve raved about this game for too long, and I don’t even own a PlayStation 4!
The game was initially set to be a PlayStation 4 launch title but was delayed by Sony to an “early 2014” release, early 2014 is here and sadly we still had no Driveclub, but there’s a good reason for that.
“We planned for the game to be ready for early 2014 and are committed to delivering on our ambitious promise of creating a truly innovative, socially connected racing game.” wrote Shuhei Yoshida, on the PlayStation Blog. “The problem with being ambitious is you have to be prepared to accept there will be challenges along the way. What DRIVECLUB offers has not been previously achieved in this category, and, because of this, the team needed more time to give you the game you’re waiting for.”
If the release date wasn’t news enough, Sony have also announced that as of February 2014, Paul Rustchynsky — better known as Rushy — had been at the helm of Driveclub as Game Director.
