Last week we wrote that Codemasters had teased the announcement of a new GRiD game which was scheduled for today, but it seems that the information surrounding the new GRiD title was released a little early. The games title and information which surfaced on Sunday, has now been confirmed by Codemasters as GRiD: Autosport which is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on June 27.

Yesterday Brasil Gamer revealed information surrounding the next GRiD game from Codemasters revealing the name, GRiD: Autosport, as well as the release date and platforms that it’ll land on. The leak was also accompanied by some information which promises more content than any other GRiD title including 22 different locations and over 100 tracks.

Following the leak Codemasters officially announced the game along with the following blurb:

“GRID: Autosport aims to move the series back in line as a more authentic racing game. Set to include a more authentic handling model (more Sim than Race Driver: GRID), five distinct disciplines; Touring, Endurance, Open Wheel, Tuner and Street. Race at 22 locations (primarily circuit based) with a combined route list that totals over 100. This game is, at its heart, inspired by you guys, our core community.”

Codemasters has also revealed a trailer that you can see above.

Also, for those hoping that the next GRiD game will have a Cockpit view which was previously rumoured, you’re going to be pretty freaking happy. According to the announcement “Cockpit view makes a return, and with it a dashboard view too, yes, GRID Autosport will ship with two in-car cameras.”

I’m actually a little disappointed that it’s not launching on latest-gen consoles, with the power behind both consoles GRiD: Autosport could have looked pretty spectacular instead I feel it’s going to be a little sub-par in the graphics department.

News flash… it’s on PC. A platform far more powerful then the “next gen” consoles. Code masters have been releasing DX11 “next gen” quality titles on PC ever since DiRT 2. If you are going to write Video Game articles you should really educate yourself Aaron… sheesh.

Thanks for your news flash, though I’m pretty aware that the game is on PC, as I actually wrote that! I’m also aware of the power behind some higher end PC’s – so don’t worry yourself, I’m not as dumb as you might think I am. But what you don’t seem to understand is that my disappointment comes from being a console gamer who perhaps can’t afford to keep upgrading my PC every year or so to keep up with these bigger titles. I’d much rather just whack a disk into my Xbox One and experience something current rather than… Read more »
