Record Store Day is the day when all the records dust themselves down, put on fresh clothes and go out into the wide world to party the night away. Well, it’s kind of true…
Record Store Day will be taking place on April 19th this year – 240 stores will be taking part (and maybe more), and over 600 exclusive vinyl and CD releases are to coincide with that date. Record Store Day is all about supporting and celebrating independent Record Stores, so make sure to go to your local (failing that, one far away) and pick up some bits and pieces. Say hi, shake some hands, be a gentleman/lady.
What else is happening? There’ll be live appearances and competitions; Richter Sounds in particular will be running a competition to win Sennheiser Momentum headphones (four winners), and there’s even a chance to win a Cambridge Audio and Pro-Ject hi-fi system. Super cool.
What Hi-Fi? Have got a super long list of all the 2014 releases at this link, have a browse.
Vinyl sales have been increasing in the last couple of years, so much so that people are starting to call it a ‘vinyl revival’. This is great news! So keep buying, and keep supporting your local record store!
