Retro City Rampage first began life on PC, Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, and PS Vita to much success, it’s only recently that the developer, Brian Provinciano, the only developer for this game, had released the title onto 3DS.
Retro City Rampage DX happened because people wanted it to. Provinaciano was inundated with requests to bring his GTA parody title to 3DS, despite already being swamped with bugs and player complaints, he took on the challenge to develop for the 3DS too which as it turns out has paid off.
This weekend, via the Retro City Rampage Twitter account, Provinaciano revealed that sales of the 3DS version of the game had already surpassed that of the Xbox 360 despite Microsoft’s console having a 12 month head start. It may seem surprising, but given the style of the game I personally think its far better suited as a hand-held title.
