Uh oh, not again.. Come one everyone, let’s count to three and collectively sigh as once again our hopes for Half-Life 3 will be raised only to be dashed down once more when the ‘source’ is found out to be talking from his arse.. Ready? 1..2..3.. *sigh*. With that out of the way lets look at what we’ve heard. According to Counter-Strike co-creator and former Valve employee Minh “Gooseman” Le, both Half-Life 3 and Left 4 dead 3 are being worked on, at least that’s what he said to goRGNtv.
Minh “Gooseman” Le, the former co-creator of Counter-Strike and current developer of the free-to-play shooter Tactical Intervention, has revealed to goRGNtv that Half-Life 3 is being worked on and that he’s seen an early build of Left 4 Dead 3.
When interviewing a former Valve employee, there’s probably one big question you’re going to ask them, and it begins with ‘H’ and ends in ‘alf-Life 3’, so when Le was asked about Half-Life 3 he replied “There’s like a laser sight on my head right now! I don’t think I can talk about that, to be honest, but I think it’s kind of public knowledge, that people know that it is being worked on. And so if I were to say that yeah, I’ve seen some images, like some concept art of it, that wouldn’t be big news to be honest.
“But yeah, I mean like I guess I could say that I did see something that looked kinda like in the Half-Life universe. And I mean it wouldn’t surprise anyone if I said they’re doing it, they’re working on it, yeah. So to go on a limb I’d say I did see some concept art for Half-Life 3.”
As you can tell for yourself, it’s not a definite confirmation, but it’s something right?
“Somebody’s knocking on my door right now!” Le went on. “Hopefully that doesn’t get out. It seems like old news by now, I think everybody knows it’s being worked on.”
Okay, we get it, Le.
Following discussions about the existence of Half-Life 3, Le continued to talk about Left 4 Dead 3, a game which he is “really excited” about.
“I saw it, it looks great. I was really excited when I saw that, I was like ‘wow, this looks great’. Because I really enjoyed Left 4 Dead, it was just one of those games that really just changed the industry. I think at the time there wasn’t many good co-op games, so yeah, this is a great co-op game.”
Now, you can probably understand my scepticism. Though Minh “Gooseman” Le is a more credible source than any to ‘confirm’ the existence of a game we’ve all been looking forward to for some time, I’m going to remain dubious until we see some solid confirmations from Valve themselves. As always, a pinch of salt is needed until more, official, information comes forward.
