Drew McWeeny at Hitfix is reporting that Jason Momoa from Game of Thrones and Stargate Atlantis will be playing Aquaman in the upcoming Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice.

McWeeny says “Someone else who’s not particularly happy about what happened in that film is Aquaman. I’m not sure if that’s the actual name they’ll use or not, but what we’re hearing is that he is not pleased about the World Engine and what it did to the Indian Ocean. He will not have a major role in the film, but he will make an appearance, and it definitely sets him up to return once Snyder gets to “Justice League.”

Until Warner Bro’s make the announcement this is just rumour. Momoa recently made the headlines when he said he was feed up with people asking him if he will be playing the part, although this could be because he has signed a non-disclosure agreement. I know I wouldn’t want people to keep asking me something if I couldn’t talk about it.

Other rumours suggest the DC have some other big plans for their films. The rumours suggest that DC have films planed out until 2018 and will see characters like Shazam and Wonder Woman to get their own movies as well as a Green Lantern/Flash cross over and a film based on Sandman by Neil Gaiman. Sandman focuses on Dream one of the endless, embodiments of powerful forces in the DCU. Hopefully Sandman will also introduce one of my favorite DC characters Death, the sister of Dream.

Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice is set for release in 2016. The film will see the return of Henry Cavill as Superman as well as introducing Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. The follow up “Justice League” may not be the only Justice League movie we see in the future, Guillermo del Toro has been working on a “Justice League Dark” movie focusing on the magic side of the DCU.
