An animated feature based on the Bayonetta videogame is set to land on DVD and Blu-ray in North American and Canadian later this year courtesy of Funimation. The movie stars, as you might expect, Bayonetta, the eponymous witch battling angels as she learns about her forgotten past.
Funimation Entertainment announces yesterday that they’d be bringing Bayonetta: Bloody Fate to the west following the acquisition of the rights for the movie which was produced by animation studio Gonzo and theatrically released in Japan last year. The movie is adapted from the videogame Bayonetta which was released in 2009 by SEGA.
To celebrate the announcement an English trailer for the move has been released which you can see above.
Bayonetta 2, the sequel to the original game, is set for launch on the Wii U this October and will come bundled with the original game for those unfamiliar with the video game series.
For those interested in hearing more about Bayonetta: Bloody Fate, the movie’s Director Fuminori Kizaki is set to make an appearance at this year’s Anime Expo in Los Angeles on July 3-6. It’s been revealed that he’ll be providing a sneak peek of the movie’s English dub as well as taking part in a Q&A session at the event in July.
