After the reports from the weekend about Crytek’s financial issues and Monday’s staff confirmations in spite of the PR team trying their best to douse the flames, it seems the rumours of Ryse 2 being in turmoil are proving to be more than just rumours at this point.
Kotaku’s continuing investigation into the matter has started to attract the frustrated employees. The issue cited is that there is a dispute of the rights of the franchise. Microsoft want to wholly own it and presumably continue to hire Crytek to make it until such a point Microsoft deem it fit to move to another studio. It’s not uncommon for Microsoft or publishers to go this route, as it ensures that the franchise can live on, regardless of the situation around them.
Ryse was an exclusive released last year for the Xbox One which received mix reviews. It currently has a score of 60 on Metacritic.
