According to a source speaking with 9to5 Mac, Facebook’s Slingshot app will be properly rolled out today. Last week the app made a brief appearance in the App Store for some countries before being removed. Now it seems like we will see its debut.
The app offers similar features to Snapchat in terms of allowing you to send ephemeral pictures and video with text to your friends. However, it differs itself because they would have to send one back to you before opening your message. You can also respond to messages with your reactions.
The App Store’s description of Slingshot when it was initially released said: “Slingshot lets you quickly share moments- little and big- with all your friends.
“Shoot a photo or video of what you’re up to and sling it to a bunch of people. They won’t be able to see your shot until they sling something back. Tap on a shot to react, or simply swipe it away.”
The source does also say it will be a free but may be held back if there are any last minute problems. We’ll keep you updated on whether the app arrives in the App Store later today.
