Recently Ubisoft has been under a bit of scrutiny pertaining to their lack of playable female characters in their upcoming Assassin’s Creed title, Assassin’s Creed Unity. Ubisoft claimed that there’s no female character in the new game because it would have been too expensive and time consuming to create a female character model. In reaction to Ubisoft’s flimsy claim the Internet went wild with anyone and everyone putting their opinions across. In this latest video for Sunset Overdrive, even Insomniac Games are having a poke.
Sunset Overdrive is obviously a stupid game. It breaks out of the current trend of realism and throws a completely unrealistic, bright, fast paced, and fun game at us, something which I’m sure we can all agree is needed right now. Insomniac Games, the developers behind the energy drink fused creation, have made it clear that in Sunset Overdrive you can be who you want to be, you can play however you want to play, and ultimately the way the game unfolds is entirely up to you.
In the latest video for the game, Insomniac Games points the AK-FuckyouUp right at Ubisoft. While answering an email question asking if you can play as a female character, they showed some footage featuring a rather familiar dressed character, who also happens to be female – Insomniac also explains that clothes are gender neutral too so if you want to play as a guy in a skirt, you can.
The video also takes a look at the games traps which allows you to easily wipe out hoards of the OD’d in the most hilarious ways possible, like with the springboard which flings OD’d miles away, and the Pandora’s Trap which brings with it some surprising outcomes.
Sunset Overdrive is set to land on the Xbox One on October 28.
