Sniper Elite III is out this week on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox One, and for those picking it up on Microsoft’s console, you may have a little wait on your hands before you actually get to play the game. Why? Because there’s a 10GB Day One patch to download!
Eurogamer have discovered that when you first launch Sniper Elite III on Xbox One you’ll be prompted to download an update which weighs in at a hefty 10GB, that might seem bad enough, but the games original mandatory install size was 21GB which, thanks to this patch brings it down to 19GB, which is still pretty large – thank god Microsoft now allows us to use external hard drives on our One’s.
Developers Rebellion have released a statement in regards to the hefty patch:
“The main part of the update is to sync data between the game’s retail discs and the Xbox Live digital download edition of the game. In the several weeks between sending the code off to manufacture and release, rather than sit around or take a break, we’ve continued to work on the game, making improvements and optimisations.
“We’ve also begun work on multiplayer DLC and a small part of this update is to introduce a compatibility pack. This is standard for any game that adds DLC – it’s just to make sure everyone can have the same multiplayer experience whether they own DLC or not.”
10GB is a pretty large download by any means, and for those on poor internet lines, you’re definitely going to feel the burn, but hey! It gives you an extra 2GB to play with!
