Warner Bros have released the opening to the new animated film featuring the Gotham Knight, Batman: Assault on Arkham. The movie will be the first animated DC film to take place in the universe of Rocksteady’s Arkham series.

Assault on Arkham takes place between the events of Arkham Origins and Arkham Asylum. The Riddler has yet again stolen important information belonging to the government, who respond by sending in the Task Force X. This group of super villains, also known as the suicide squad, are sent in to the prison on Arkham Island to get back the information.

After Harley Quinn releases the Joker, Batman has his hands full attempting to deal with enemies on all sides.

To celebrate Batman’s 75th anniversary, the caped crusader currently has a weekly series, Batman Eternal. So far the series has seen the fall of Jim Gordon, the return to Gotham of Carmine Falcone and the whole Bat-family in action. In other Dark Knight comic news, Scott Snyder’s amazing Batman: Year One is coming to a close as Batman and Riddler face off and Robin Rise: Omega will see the rise of the next Robin, as Bruce attempts to resurrect his recently murdered son Damien.

Batman: Assault on Arkham will be available on DVD, Blu Ray and Digital on August 12th 2014. Assault includes voice work from Kevin Conroy, Neal McDonough, Matthew Gray Gubler, CCH Pounder, Greg Ellis, Giancarlo Espositor and gaming’s top dog of voice acting, Troy Baker.
