Disney Interactive have finally announced the release date of their upcoming sequel to Disney Infinity, Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes, which see’s a brand new set of toys as well as a ton of new features including the ability to fly, as well as a Toy Box 2.0 mode. The game, including the starter pack, is set for release in North America on September 23 which is likely going to land a few days later in Europe on September 26.
Disney Interactive announced the news on Twitter, and it seems they’ve also dropped the “2.0” moniker calling the sequel to Disney Infinity, Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes, which makes sense considering the starter pack comes with Marvel figures as well as a bunch of other Marvel themed figures set to be sold separately. For those who pre-order the game, you’ll also get a bonus Marvel figure… Marvel!
The company has also revealed some details in regards to the compatibility of items from the previous game. All characters and Power Discs from the previous playset will be usable in Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes, but those who own the Xbox 360 base won’t be able to use it with the Xbox One version of the game due to compatibility issues. The PS3 base, however, will work with the PlayStation 4 game. Unfortunately for Xbox One players, you’re going to have to grab the starter pack, or wait until the base is sold separately.
The Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes Starter Pack will include the game’s disc, a base, and figurines for Marvel’s Iron Man, Thor and Black Widow, There’s also The Avenger’s playset piece, and two Toy Box games including a tower-defence game and a procedurally-generated dungeon crawler.
Along with an all-star cast of Marvel Super Heroes, Disney has also announced the addition of Maleficent, and Tinkerbell & Stitch, so for those not to into Marvel, you’ll be happy to know that Disney are still releasing classic Disney characters in this new edition.
