It’s that film that’s based on that book that everyone went a little mad over yet didn’t openly talk about it. You know the one, Fifty Shades of Grey, the adult novel by E. L. James that seemed to open the floodgates to many other books of the same nature. Though everyone seems to be over the whole adult book scene becoming more widely accepted, that hasn’t stopped the trailer for the upcoming movie becoming one of the most watched trailers of 2014.

For those who were hiding under a rock when almost everyone had their noses stuck in between the pages that told the story of a whirlwind relationship between Christian Gray and Anastasia Steele, Fifty Shades of Gray is the first book in the Fifty Shades trilogy that follows the story of a deepening relationship between a college graduate, Anastasia Steele, and a young business magnate, Christian Grey, as their relationship, notorious for its sexual and erotic nature as well as heavy influences from BDSM, seemingly comes to an end.. or does it?

The trailer, which was released last week, has received a whopping 36.4m views on YouTube since hitting the web on 24 July. Which beats the record previously held by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which notched up 31m views at the end of March. It also knocks Godzilla and Transformers: Age of Extinction off of the table too which both managed 26.3m views earlier in the year.

You can check out the trailer in question above.

Fifty Shades of Gray is set to land in cinemas in the UK on February 13, 2015 and stars Jamie Dornan, Dakota Johnson, Luke Grimes, Victor Rasuk, Eloise Mumford, Marcia Gay Harden, Rita Ora, Max Martini, Callum Keith Rennie, Jennifer Ehle, and Dylan Neal.
