Rocket Raccoon, Groot, and the gang will be gracing the pixelated terrain of Mojang’s Minecraft for Xbox 360 and Xbox One in an all-new Guardians of the Galaxy skin pack which is expected to arrive soon, says Marvel editor Ben Morse. This comes as part of 24 skins inspired both by Marvel’s blockbuster film, which is set to release this Friday, and the comic books.
The partnership between Marvel Comics and 4J Studios to bring skin packs to Minecraft has been long running, previously they partnered to bring the Marvel Spider Man skin pack to the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft, and now this exclusive to Xbox Guardians of the Galaxy skin pack. Marvel Editor Ben Morse revealed on July 26 that a new skin pack is now in development for the Xbox editions of Minecraft, which was then confirmed by Microsoft Studios’ Roger Carpenter who retweeted Morse’s original announcement later that week.
As for the release of the Guardians of the Galaxy skin pack, no details have been revealed, but with the movie landing in theatres on Friday it seems likely that it’ll land on the Xbox 360 soon, and then come as part of the Xbox One release some time next month.
