The last time Agent 47 graced the big screen it wasn’t exactly the most memorable. In fact the movie has a score of 14% on Rotten Tomatoes after it received not so favourable reviews. But that hasn’t stopped the big-wigs in Hollywood from rebooting the movie. This time however, it looks a lot better than 2007’s Hitman. It also has a better name too letting us know that it really is a movie version of the game we all know and love; Hitman: Agent 47.
Hitman: Agent 47 was shown for the first time at San Diego Comic-Con where the audience got to experience a teaser for the movie as well as a panel that comprised of the movies cast. Sadly, I can’t get my hopes up too much despite Hitman: Agent 47 having a pretty star studded line-up. Playing the bald headed, barcode wearing agent will be Homeland star Rupert Friend, who’ll be joined by Zachary Quinto (Star Trek Into Darkness) and Hannah Ware (Betrayal), so at least so far it’s a step in the right direction.
At Comic-Con the panel comprised of Quinto and Ware, Friend couldn’t attend due to his shooting schedule for Homeland, and the duo discussed their characters in a little more detail. “There is a relationship between Katia and John that is pretty dynamic, I would say,” said Quinto, reports Latino Review, where he added that he likes to “take on roles that have more than meets the eye,” and that Smith’s character qualifies because it’s “complicated.” Ware revealed that Agent 47 “seeks Katia out and she presents him with his biggest challenges.”
For those looking forward to the movie, Hitman: Agent 47 is set to land in theatres in the US on February 27, 2015. It’ll be directed Aleksander Bach, and also stars Thomas Kretschmann, Dan Bakkedahl and Ciaran Hinds. Here’s some stills to whet your appetite..
