In a couple of months, Apple is expected to announce a variety of new products including the iPhone 6 and new iPads. However we might be seeing an ultra thin iPad Mini according to a report in China.
It says that the ‘iPad Mini Air’ will be 30% thinner than the current Mini 2. That’s quite impressive because the Mini 2 is 7.5mm in width. That’s a decent size compared to other tablets. The Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 and Galaxy Tab 3, 8-inch model, come in a bit thinner at 7.2mm and 7.4mm respectively. However, a tablet like the Nexus 7 is 8.7mm.
This significant change may just be the attraction for potential customers. That would be ideal for Apple after their Q3 revenue for the device decreased. iPad sales were down 9% compared to last year and so this may just be what Apple need if they want to increase the product’s sales.
The report goes on to say that the iPad will be powered by the A8 processor, which we’ll also see in the iPhone 6.
It added that there will be a 12.9-inch model for the regular iPad and we should see that at the end of Q3 or the start of Q4.
