A number of screenshots have appeared online, courtesy of Android Police, which show Google Play’s refreshed, Material Design look suggesting that an update is coming pretty soon. Though Android Police have some confidence in the new images, things could change upon a final release.
The new-look Google Play, according to the images, brings with it Android L’s Material Design which was unveiled during Google I/O last month. With a much cleaner, minimalist, and material-like look, this is our first real preview at how Material Design be implemented into Google Play with big hero images and in some cases videos, replacing album art and app logos. The images Android Police have acquired show both the tablet and smartphone versions of the update with the most notable changes coming to the tablet version.
All of the app, movie, book, and music listings have also been given a typographic overhaul with minimal information being shown before the user scrolls down to find more information.
The update, which has no release date yet, is likely to receive some minor changes as the release of Android L looms closer, which is expected sometime this fall.
