Konami have released an “extended” version of the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain E3 trailer. The E3 2013 trailer received both Green and Red band trailers, with the red band version getting 2 or 3 minutes of extra footage, this years trailer only featured a couple of lines of dialogue right at the end.
“We are not burying them at sea?” What then?” asks Ocelot, to which Big Boss replies “We will make diamonds from their ashes, take them in to battle with us. A shining light to our brothers in arms, even in death. We are Diamond Dogs”
It does seem strange that a second version of the trailer is needed, at least last years version did add in a collection of new footage.
Diamond’s will play a big part in the upcoming game with the trade in blood diamonds looking like it will be apart of the story. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain follows the story of Big Boss from Metal Gear Solid III Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker and the prelude Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes.
Big Boss was the military mastermind behind the special forces unit FOXHOUND and the mercenary company Military Sans Frontières. (Spoiler Alert) At the end of Ground Zeroes MSF was left in ruins after an attack by Zero/Cypher on Mother Base. The Phantom Pains will pick up nine years later with Big Boss waking from a coma. The game will take place in Afghanistan during the Soviet Invasion, Big Boss will be building a new mercenary company, The Diamond Dogs, as he seeks revenge.
Military Sans Frontières were in control of Metal Gear ZEKE and a nuclear warhead. A banner at this years E3 suggests that another large Metal Gear will be making an appearance in the new game.
