So the rumours were true. The NVIDIA® SHIELD™ tablet, specifically designed for gamers, has officially been announced and with a lot more going on then what we first realised!

Pre-orders are now available for their 16GB, Wifi capable, gaming tablet which promises a lot at £239.99 ($299). The SHIELD tablet has an 8 inch screen, full HD display, Front facing speakers to get the best effect when gaming and Tegra® K1 Mobile Processor which the site says, “Taps into the same NVIDIA Kepler™ architecture that drives the world’s most extreme gaming PCs.”

With the ability to buy a wireless controller for the tablet to for £49.99 ($59) which includes, to say the least, voice activation to go to different apps, play music and search the internet, also allows you to really play your games. The controller also allows the ability to attach a headset and microphone so that you can chat to your friends and co-ordinate your attacks.


NVIDIA have managed to think of every way that you could want to play games and made it happen. With the SHIELD tablet you are able to play it on the move or connect it to your big screen TV. It is even able to connect to your PC and stream you games that you have on there to wherever you are via NVIDIA GAMESTREAM™. Using this means that can play any pc game like World of Warcraft, League of Legends and DOTA 2.

And of course the tablet has included a direct link to Twitch, to be able to upload your gaming clips and so everyone how it is done.

The NVIDIA SHIELD tablet and wireless controller are available for pre-order today and are to be released 13th August.

There will also be a second version of the tablet coming out at a later day which has not yet been confirmed. The second version will be 32GB and include both WiFi and LTE. The cost for the additional memory and additional connection is £299 ($399)
