It comes as no surprise that Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs is once again in first place this week considering there has been no real noticeable releases during this summer gaming drought, but the rest of the charts have seen some interesting movement, one of which being Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, and The LEGO Movie Videogame which has shot to third and fifth place, respectively.
This is Watch Dogs sixth week in the first spot drawing ever closer to FIFA 14’s record of 7 for this year, but can it hold on to the crown? The overall market saw a drop of 3% in terms of units/revenue over last week and that means week 30 is the second lowest in terms of units so far this year and the lowest for revenue.
This week has seen a lot of movement below the top two with a pretty noticeable shift by The LEGO Movie Video Game, and of course, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition. Grand Theft Auto V has also jumped up into the top 10 all of which has pushed Wolfenstein: The New Order out. Skate 3, which was released in 2010 is also climbing up the charts, which is a surprise. Elsewhere for EA, Need for Speed: Rivals has drifted back into the top 40 along with, Pokémon X, and LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes.
With the release of The Last of Us: Remastered imminent, it’ll be interesting if Naughty Dog’s improved edition of one of the top selling PlayStation 3 titles can knock Watch Dogs off of its throne.
