During Google I/O we received an early preview of the next version of Android, currently titled Android L. Following the event a developer preview of Android L was released for certain devices but as for an official roll-out, we won’t know for sure until this Autumn when Google expect to launch the new, prettier version of Android. That still begs the question.. Will *name of phone* be getting Android L?
Shortly after Google I/O Motorola Germany reportedly revealed via Facebook that Android L was coming to the Moto G and Moto X but there was just one problem. Motorola Germany’s Facebook page wasn’t an official page after all, something that Motorola themselves revealed shortly after the announcement.
“Unfortunately, we have found that a Facebook profile under the name “Motorola Germany” with the following URL facebook.com/MotoDACH/ was created. We would like to point out that this is not an official Motorola site and expressly distance ourselves from said content. All relevant information about Motorola can be found only here on this page.”
So once again we were left asking whether Android L will be coming to Motorola’s current flagship device as well as the cheaper, but powerful Moto G. Thankfully, John Doe is here to the rescue as Android Origin has taken some screenshots showing an alleged conversation between the aforementioned Mr. Doe and a Motorola representative who, when asked whether Android L will be coming to the Moto X and Moto G, they replied, “Yes, once it is available.”
Should we take that on face value, however? Probably not. Until Motorola themselves announce that Android L is in fact coming to the Moto X and Moto G, I’m going to take news like this with a pinch of salt.
