The last time I watched a wrestling match was when WWF was the king of wrestling on cable and WWE was the cheap, unpopular knock-off shown in the middle of the night on Channel 5. It seems that that’s all changed now as the WWF doesn’t seem as popular as it once was, and WWE is now king. What’s that all about? Though my naivety around the world of wrestling may cloud my judgement, I know that the reveal of the cover star for 2K’s upcoming wrestling title WWE2K14 comes as no real surprise.
Revealed during WWE Raw on Monday night, Cena will be the cover star of this years WWE video game, this follows the win of his 15th WWE world championship during Sunday’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view event. Sounds exciting. To add even more to the reveal, the cover also shows off a new WWE logo.
The new scratch-free logo which hasn’t changed sinc earound 1997 is much cleaner and will come into play across the entire business in August. I’m also informed that the new logo is currently in use on the new WWE Network, and was also used for Wrestlemania 31.
“It is truly an honor and privilege to serve as the WWE 2K15 cover superstar,” Cena said in a prepared statement. “I look forward to carrying the flag for WWE 2K15, and introducing the incredible next generation of WWE gaming to the WWE Universe.”
WWE2K15 launches on October 28 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
