When I saw the news this morning that Motorola could be releasing up to eight devices before Christmas, I felt that it was a little ambitious and likely just a false rumour, but then I actually thought about it.. So far, Motorola are rumoured to be releasing the Moto X+1, the Moto 360, a rumoured Motorola Nexus device is in the works, and it seems highly likely that a Motorola tablet is on the way as well as a smaller “mini” version of the X+1 could arrive, that alone is 5 phones. That’s not even mentioning their range of US-only DROID handsets..
So here’s the news, according to serial Motorola leakster, TK Tech News, Motorola have at least eight devices lined up for release this year; the DROID, DROID Maxx, DROID Turbo, Moto G, Moto S, Moto X+1, Moto X Play and the Nexus Shamu. You may be wondering why the Moto G is in there, well it seems like Motorola could have the Moto G2 up their sleeves – that would likely be the ‘mini’ version of the Moto X+1 I mentioned above. The Shamu is also supposed to be their high-end Nexus device which is also rumoured for release later this year.
Though the number seems a little far-fetched, it could quite be possible. But at the same time, a lot of these devices may never see the light of day depending on how well other handsets do. For example, if the Moto X+1 sells well, Motorola might just can the DROID Turbo. The same would go for a few other handsets too. Right now it seems that Motorola are just weighing up their options now they’re free of Google’s chains, it’ll be interesting how many-out of that eight, become a reality.
