FIFA 15 is the bookies favourite for Christmas Number One again this year, so it comes as no real surprise that following Friday’s release, it’s shot straight into the top spot kicking Bungies MMO FPS Destiny off of it’s throne, but will it last?
It comes as no surprise that FIFA’s 21st instalment into the FIFA series has shot straight to number one, it’s a much loved series and pretty much everyone I know who is at least a tiny bit into sports rushed out on Thursday evening to queue for the midnight launch. In total, FIFA 15 accounts for 80% of all entertainment software units this week and a pretty impressive 87% of revenue. Despite the lack of PSP/PS Vita releases this year, the sales of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One copies sure make up for it.
GFK Chart-track revealed that the sales were split with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One gaining 54% of sales and the previous generation PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 gaining 45%.
There were a handful of new releases last week but unfortunately only one of them made the top 40 and that was Level-5’s Fantasy Life, published by Nintendo in the UK, that debuted at number 8.
I’ll let you into a little secret, I wrote the above title and first paragraph last night before the GFK Chart-track released the official top 40! Am I a psychic? I’ll let you decide.
